Office Policies

Thank you for selecting us as your primary dental care provider. To promote a long-term, mutually satisfying relationship, we would like to explain our office policies regarding insurance, appointments and fees.

This will result in a $60 bank fee that will be charged to your account. Cash or a credit card must be used to pay the remaining bill.
We accept cash, verified company cheques, MasterCard, Visa debit & credit cards.
We will contact you multiple times prior to your appointment by WhatsApp Message, email and/or telephone. PLEASE reply to one of these contacts to confirm your appointment. If after normal business hours and you need to cancel, reschedule or confirm, you can leave us a voicemail, email or WhatsApp Message. Kindly note if you have not confirmed within 48 hours prior to your appointment, we may have to release this appointment to another patient.
Please keep in mind that we maintain a busy schedule. Patients running late can impact the schedule of the entire clinic. Late arrivals therefore may result with us unable to offer you part or full planned treatment. Please contact us and let us know if you are running behind so we can manage accordingly.
Your scheduled appointment is reserved exclusively for you. If you fail to notify us of your inability to keep the appointment, another patient in need of dentistry is unable to receive treatment. We request that you aim to give us 36 hours notice when you realize you cannot keep an appointment.
We recognize how busy schedules can be with obligations especially with school and work and we aim to schedule appointments at a time most convenient for you. Our scheduling system is designed to be beneficial to you as well as our practice. However, in order to treat our patients of the practice in a timely fashion, the entire day must be utilized for appointments. Please understand that we unfortunately cannot fulfil all requests for after school appointments and therefore will be impossible to avoid missing school. Longer appointments requiring restorative care (to repair a tooth) i.e. fillings, root canals etc are usually scheduled during school hours. Insistence upon after school appointments will not offer sufficient time, can hamper progress and may complicate and extend treatment. We recommend appointment times between morning and afternoon to avoid missing too much time in any part of the day. An excuse note can be prepared by our office for you to indicate to your child’s teacher that absence/tardiness was due to the dental appointment.
As a courtesy to you, we can submit some insurance claims on your behalf. Our staff prides itself on helping our patients utilize their benefits. The patient however is ultimately responsible for the cost of treatment rendered. Your insurance may not cover or only partially cover them. Any cost given by our office is considered a guideline until insurance payment is received where applicable, and the patient’s account is reconciled. Our office makes no guarantee of the actual payment by your insurance company. We cannot change treatment codes or dates of service to your insurance benefits. Please note it will be considered fraudulent to change the cost or date of treatment.

General Questions

By age 1. Your baby should have their first dental visit when the first tooth erupts or appears, or by their first birthday.

Teeth are at risk of cavities as soon as the tooth erupts into the mouth. Babies get bacteria in the mouth typically between the age of 6 months to 30 months. This is the best time to start prevention and acclimatisation.

No. There is no specific brand of toothbrush or toothpaste that is best advised. However, we do recommend using a soft toothbrush whose head can fit into the back of the mouth to thoroughly clean the molars (back teeth). Your toothpaste preference is entirely up to you, though your dentist can make a recommendation based on your specific oral health needs.
If you are a new patient, the dentist may recommend X-rays to determine the present status of your oral health and have a baseline to help identify changes that may occur later. Dentists use these radiographs to detect issues that may not be seen through visual examination. Dental x-rays can capture images of the tooth root, jaw, and supporting structures. They help detect tooth decay, gum disease, infection, bone loss, and tooth cracks that are not visible to the eye.
How often you visit depends on your oral health needs. We believe that preventative care is needed to make sure small problems don’t turn into larger ones later. How often you’re asked to visit will depend on how well you care for your teeth and gums, and if there are specific issues that need to be checked or treated.
You can, however we recommend an initial exam to check your oral health as a crucial step towards putting you on a path to a healthy mouth and smile. Based on that initial exam, we can create a custom treatment plan and then schedule your appointment with our hygienist for a cleaning.
Yes. Please let us know ahead of your appointment if you would like us to make any special arrangements for you.

Short Term Orthodontic Braces

STO braces are generally less expensive than other tooth straightening methods, as there are far fewer appointments required and the treatment time is greatly reduced.
With any orthodontic procedure you need to wear a retainer to maintain your final tooth positions. STO does not use the typical retainer with a large non-aesthetic wire running across the front of the teeth. Instead clear retainers that are moulded precisely to fit your teeth are used or a wire retainer is bonded behind your teeth. When you are wearing your retainer, no one will be able to see them.
Most STO braces are clear or tooth coloured and almost invisible on your teeth. The titanium archwires are also very discrete and less noticeable than the thick metal wires seen with traditional braces. These braces have a chameleon like effect blending seamlessly in with your teeth. This makes them difficult to see compared to the metal braces/brackets.
STO braces is a very safe system that has been used successfully by thousands of patients all over the world for over 20 years. There are many myths surrounding root resorption and it is one of the most misunderstood topics in dentistry. The number one cause of root resorption is genetics. You are either prone to it or you are not. It is just like high cholesterol some people can exercise all the time and eat great and their cholesterol will still be high. Other people do not exercise or eat right and their cholesterol is low. The number two cause of root resorption is the length of time you wear your braces. The longer you wear braces the more likely you will have root resorption. High force levels can also increase the amount of root resorption but with STO braces low forces are used to move your teeth. Since most of our cases are completed in a short period of time and we are using low forces to move your teeth it is highly unlikely you will experience root resorption while being treated.
