Sedation Dentistry (Children & Adults)

Most dental surgery procedures, such as fillings, can be done using a local anaesthetic. But, for those patients for whom a visit to the dentist can be an extremely stressful one, we can provide help to allow them to get their needed treatment completed  using sedation. There are 2 types of sedation methods available:

  • Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) is a safe and effective method of sedation, as it allows for patients to better cope with procedure more easily. This allows for patients to feel calmer and less anxious while essentially still allowing them to comfortably communicate.
  • Intravenous Sedation is another alternative for young or very anxious patients, it can also be used for more difficult treatment. With IV sedation the patient is monitored and sedated with an anesthesiologist who is extremely qualified for this level of sedation. More treatment can then be completed with ease while the patient is only woken after the treatment is completed.

Tooth Extractions & Wisdom Teeth Removal

At Oasis Dental, we make every effort to preserve your natural teeth and your smile healthy for as long as possible. But, in some instances there are times where it becomes necessary to have a tooth removed – it may have become severely damaged or decayed. In other cases the tooth has become impacted and will pose trouble for your later on, or, a wisdom tooth is prevented from growing in properly as our jaws don’t grow to be big enough to have enough space for them to come in.

Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants

Dental Implants are the closest you can get to healthy, natural teeth. They are the strongest devices available to support replacement teeth and even better, they allow these new teeth to feel, look and function naturally.

The diagram below shows the 3 components that make up a dental implant.

  • A) The actual implant – which bonds with your natural bone. They become a sturdy base for supporting one or more artificial teeth, called crowns.
  • B) The abutment – this is placed on top of the dental implant to hold and support the crown.
  • C) The crown – crowns are custom-made to match your natural tooth and fit your mouth.

Couple facts about dental implants:

  • Dental implants are the only dental prosthetic (replacement) option that preserve and maintain the natural bone around them ; they actually help to stimulate bone growth.
  • In 1952, Swedish orthopedic surgeon P.I. Branemark discovered that titanium alloys naturally fuse with bone, eventually switching his research focus to the mouth from the knee and hip.
